Afternoon constitutional

Yet another one from the #GPlus2YearAnniversary  photowalk.  (I must say I got quite a few shots I liked on that day!)

This was taken just outside of Yanaka cemetery.  It's a great place to walk around and get people shots; I took another photo around this area during the sakura season that I really liked as well, and the whole area seems to have a temple or shrine on almost every corner.

It's a 3 day weekend, yay!  But I work on Monday still… (>_<).  But hopefully only a half day, so it's still a 2-and-a-half-day weekend 😉

Goodnight from Tokyo!

Trying for an old-timey feel

Another shot from the #GPlus2YearAnniversary  photowalk, this was taken at Nezu shrine.

Stood at this point for quite a while, waiting for the people to go away, and the fish to swim into view (most of them were huddled in the shadows).

Still, due to the time of day (around 4PM), the light was pretty harsh, and the image felt pretty "flat", so I messed around with the film filters in Color Efex Pro to try and make things pop a little.  I don't usually do that, but it's fun to do on occasion.  Couldn't do much about the blown out sky though 🙁

Off to work, it's Friday!

Coming in for a landing

Just another quick one from the #GPlus2YearAnniversary  photowalk.  Posting stuff that I don't have to do much editing with, this was a spur of the moment shot when I saw some pigeons coming in to land above our heads.

Now, to bed!

Goodnight from Tokyo!

Nevermore

Another shot taken from the #GPlusPhotowalkJapan  / #GPlus2YearAnniversary  photowalk a couple weeks back.

We couldn't have asked for a better day weather-wise for Google's 2 year anniversary photowalk.  More to come, as I get the time to upload…

Reflections over Tanukiko

Hard to believe it's been so long since my last post but, as usual, work is to blame..  🙁

Finally had the chance to look back in the archives today and pulled this shot out from the trip to Tanukiko.

Pity, I had cropped this shot to 16:9 aspect ratio, but it looks like G+ doesn't allow that to fully display in the stream.  I'll have to remember to avoid doing this, or try putting a border along the top and bottom next time..

Off to bed now, work tomorrow morning – g'night from Tokyo!

Internet Connectivity is go!

Been away from G+ for a little bit as I've just moved to a new apartment.  It's been a long and tiring process, and the fact that my new place is beside Kanpachi-dori (a busy and NOISY road, even at night), compounded the stress.  (I now hate motorcycles with a passion, at least those riders who feel the need to gun their engines repeatedly in the middle of the night)

I'm still unpacking my stuff, but I finally got my internet connection up and running today, so I'm back online at least 🙂

Had the chance to hang out with some friends that I hadn't seen in a long time last Saturday, and later that evening headed to Asakusa to catch the end of the "Tokyo Hotaru" festival.

The glowing lights in the river are created by LED's that float downriver, simulating fireflies (don't worry, the lights are later caught in a net downriver, so there is no harm to the environment).  It's a pretty sight, though the crowds of viewers make it tough to move around…

It's good to be back online, and I should be posting more (at least once I get more of my stuff unpacked).  Good night from Tokyo!

The Last Sakura

As I mentioned in my previous post, I haven't been online much lately due to apartment-hunting, which has been taking up all of my free time.  I've been visiting housing agents every single day, and then coming home to spend 3-4 hours online browsing apartment listings.

It makes me wonder what is the average time most people take when they search for their own apartments…

In my case though, I have a strict deadline, so I'll have to make a decision soon.. wish me luck!

I chose to post this shot because it didn't need much in the way of processing – important because I just don't have time for that right now!  It's my last sakura shot for this year, I promise.

Gotta run to city hall now for paperwork this morning, have a good day folks!

Morning Calm

Between work and apartment-hunting, I seem to have less and less time to work on my photos, which gives me the sads 🙁

This image was taken on a weekend trip to the Mt. Fuji area a short while back with +adithya anand , +Agustin Rafael Reyes , +Jason Arney , +Meg Y. , and +Tim Buerger .  We'd hoped to get a once-a-year image of the sunrise over Mt. Fuji, but cloudy skies prevented us from getting anything more than a peek of the mountain.

Still, despite zero-degree temperatures, staying awake all night, and missing the sunrise, I still got some shots from the trip I was happy with.

This was one of them.  🙂

For the near future (at least until I find a new place and move by middle of May), I guess my post rate is going to continue to be fairly slow, but I'll be around!

Good night from Tokyo folks.

The Fishermen

April has proven to be one heck of a busy month at the office, so much so that I haven't had the energy/mindset to process the tremendous backlog of images on my harddrive 🙁

However, last weekend (I can't believe this week is already more than halfway over..) I did have a chance to get out of Tokyo with some fellow photographer friends.  We did NOT get the shots we were hoping for (it ended up raining and snowing), but I still got some shots I was happy with.  Lemonade out of lemons, right?  🙂

I think fishermen can be just as crazy a breed as photographers.. maybe even more.  They do make very cool subjects to photograph though!  😉

Good night from Tokyo!
