I signed up late last month for an "intro to product photography" workshop run by +Tim Buerger . Since I have very limited experience using flash, I figured it would be interesting to explore this area a bit more and try to learn how to use what I've got.
I got there 30 minutes late (getting on the wrong express train will cause that), but nonetheless got there in plenty of time to play with and learn a lot of things that I'd previously only read about, but never actually tried. Tim's a pretty creative guy – he showed us some of his homemade/DIY tools (though we also got to mess around with some of the more "professional" equipment as well), and while it was a quite a lot of information to take in during the 4-hour session, it was great fun!
Following the workshop, I've tried my hand at creating my own DIY "light tent" and grid snoot, and next on my list to head to a used camera shop when I get the time to buy a couple of cheap (3,000 yen?) flashes.
I've created (another!) album for future attempts at product photography – for now, it just contains some shots I took during the workshop, where Danbo-kun was the star! 🙂
Good night!
P.S. Tim, if you do run a zombie shoot in the future, do let me know! 😉
