I don’t think I’ve posted these before, so here are a few shots of where I’m keeping my books now! ย (plus a sofa that I got for surprisingly cheap online – though it turned out to be WAY smaller than I had thought it would be). ย The bookshelves were fun to put together – they’re actually “expandable”, so if I were to ever move to another place with higher ceilings, I could make them taller, adding at least 1 more row.
I love books. ๐

This looks like my idea of Sherlock Holmes’ place from my mind’s eye ๐
I recognize numerous nick-knacks: tom-tom from Togo (skin replaced in Jakarta!), boomerang, wooden cars, etc.!
Overall, looks very comfy!
That’s a lotta books. Having chucked most of mine during a series of moves, I can now only fill maybe two shelves. 8(
PS What do you do about earthquake proofing? I don’t see any anchors.
Apologies for the late reply – blog checking (and updating) has taken a back seat to an influx of work again…
If you look at the pictures, you can see a “T-shaped” brace that I bought at Tokyu hands. The original shelves do not require this (they have their own built-in brace), but since the walls at my place are irregularly angled, I had to buy these additionally.
