Getting hits all over on "wordpress ddos attacks" but it is from new and old. Granted, you're getting a bf attack and not a ddos. Either way, big target.

+Jason Arney , yeah, I couldn't really find anything recent so I wondered where you'd seen it.
The attacks aren't really impacting me (though they are still ongoing, another couple thousand attempts since I posted this), but I am curious why the sudden uptick. There have always been bf attacks, but usually only several hundred a day at most. As of this weekend, it's about 10,000 a day or more.

Thanks for the link +Ivar Songe , I hadn't seen that article (and I note that the ussc.gov site is down). I suppose it is possible that there is a greater effort to find websites that can be compromised and used to serve as part of a botnet for a ddos attack.
I am just surprised that I haven't found mention anywhere so far that other sites are seeing increased intrusion attempts – I would have thought that if anyone else were seeing a similar uptick in attacks, others would be noting it too. Will continue to keep monitoring!
