I had the opportunity to fly to Hokkaido a couple of weeks back with +adithya anand , +Agustin Rafael Reyes , and +Jason Arney . We were there for just the weekend + 1 day, and made the most of our trip, taking hundreds of pictures of the summer flowers.
Hokkaido is really a lovely place – I've been there in summer and autumn so far, and hope to one day visit in winter and spring as well.
I got tons of awesome photos that I haven't even had a chance to go through. This was just a SOOC shot I pulled out to send to my family so that they could see where I'd been.
I'll go through my Hokkaido shots over the coming weeks (still have the G+ anniversary photowalk pictures to go through first!), but just wanted to share this 🙂

I used to visit Biei but unfortunately couldn't see such a great view!
Ah, I guess it depends on the timing +Koshi Yamamoto . This was also in the Biei area. We were lucky, we got there in time to catch alot of the flowers (though it was already starting to be past the peak season).
Beautiful shot of the flowers and of the man smiling at the little girl.
It feels as if running through that field of flowers comes with a musical accompaniment. 🙂
It was pretty adorable +Mee Ming Wong . I believe he was her grandfather as the little girl's parents showed up moments later to take their photos 🙂
As for the music accompaniment.. well… sadly, the ambient background sound was pure tourist chatter (^^;

Hokkaido's a great place to visit, very tourist-friendly as well +Shereen Yeoh ! I've never been in winter, but there's supposed to be a cool (pun not intended) Ice festival as well 🙂
winter, hrm… i don't think i fancy being snowed-in, though. spring might be more inviting
If you time it right, the lavender fields (part of which I photographed above) are in season in summer. I haven't been to Hokkaido in spring so I'm not sure what that season is famous for, but I can vouch for summer and autumn +Shereen Yeoh 🙂
