I was so tired last night that I didn't even get a chance to reach my bed – I ended up sleeping on my couch all night!  So, I'll just be uploading 1 photo to the Mt. Fuji photowalk album today.  🙂

It is a pretty cool one though – this is the sight that greeted us at dawn (around 4AM exactly 1 week ago).  It's because of sunrises like this that people keep trying to climb the mountain; as one of my fellow photowalkers said, "I don't care if I don't reach the top of the mountain anymore – I'm happy that I had the chance to see this view".  🙂

Will probably not be on G+ much today and tomorrow as I'll be out and about, but hope you all have a great weekend!

G+ Mt. Fuji Photowalk image set #3

I was too tired to spend much time going through photos last night; I was literally falling asleep at my desk so I just managed to work on a few before giving up and going to bed.

This set shows our ascent to the 8th station, and the cabin where we stopped to catch some rest for the night.  The huts are not really ideal places to sleep since you're constantly interrupted/woken up by other hikers/climbers, but they are nice places to just stop and catch your breath for a few hours.

This was also the spot where we got our Mt. Fuji sunrise photos, which I'll hopefully be able to post tomorrow.  🙂

G+ Mt. Fuji Photowalk – image set #2

I'm slowly going through all the photos we took on the G+ Mt. Fuji photowalk last weekend.

I'm trying to (more or less) upload the images in chronological order – the first set started from our departure point at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, the 3hr bus ride to the 5th station on the mountain, and the warm-ups before we started off.

Now you see our group as we started off – still full of energy, and no aching muscles yet.  😉

One random encounter as we were climbing was of a few people carrying what appeared to be a mini statue/replica of Mt. Fuji.  Perhaps some of my Japanese climbing friends can chime in to explain what that was about since I couldn't understand a word they were saying (^^;

More pictures to come in the next couple days…

Have a great day folks 🙂

2012 Mt. Fuji Photowalk

I had the fun of participating in a fantastic photowalk to Mt. Fuji last weekend.  Organized by +holger feroudj and supported by +Google+ , a group of about 21 Gplussers took on the challenge of Mt. Fuji (Fuji-san) and conquered it.

Though this photowalk was more painful than the other photowalks I've participated in (my leg muscles are still recovering, 2 days later!), it was also very memorable.  Most of us were strangers to each other, having never met in real life, yet we banded together, suffered together, and reached the top of the highest mountain in Japan – together.

I took many many pictures, so these are just the start – expect more to come in the next few days.  🙂

To all my fellow climbers and G+ friends –  ?????????!!

Given that they're supposed to be making a movie out of this series, I was considering checking out the "Fifty Shades of Grey" series.  Well… no more.  I think there are more stories out there that I'll enjoy.

But this review is truly entertaining!

Reshared post from +Nathan Farrugia

The only review you will ever need to read. Hilarious. Also, GIFs.

My first animated gif creation. I'd say it was time well spent, don't you?

I'm going through and editing some photos that I promised to get done for someone a while ago and while taking a break, was browsing through some older pictures from earlier this year while at Shirakawago.

Maybe I'm looking through my winter photos because it's so ridiculously hot and humid right now….

Don't think I'm going to be on G+ much this weekend (though I will be meeting up with fellow G+ folk!), hope ya'll have a good Friday night and great weekend!

Splash

Finally going through my tremendous backlog of photos – these were taken almost 2 months ago at +Tim Buerger 's workshop.

It was great fun – and super messy!  As you can probably imagine, timing is (one of) the toughest things with these kinds of shots.  Catching the "perfect moment" is very tricky.  Even when you start getting the timing right, you can't exactly control how the "model" (cherry) or water drop will fall.  So you shoot, and you shoot – and you shoot some more.

All in all though, this was not just a practice in getting the lighting and the timing right, but also an exploration of creativity, figuring out what you can do to get the effects and lighting you want.  That's something I definitely need to work on personally so this workshop was a good step in the right direction. 🙂

Hokkaido

I had the opportunity to fly to Hokkaido a couple of weeks back with +adithya anand , +Agustin Rafael Reyes , and +Jason Arney .  We were there for just the weekend + 1 day, and made the most of our trip, taking hundreds of pictures of the summer flowers.

Hokkaido is really a lovely place – I've been there in summer and autumn so far, and hope to one day visit in winter and spring as well.

I got tons of awesome photos that I haven't even had a chance to go through.  This was just a SOOC shot I pulled out to send to my family so that they could see where I'd been.

I'll go through my Hokkaido shots over the coming weeks (still have the G+ anniversary photowalk pictures to go through first!), but just wanted to share this 🙂
